12 March 2009Teghut forest Yesterday we had training with the members of the organization "Save Teghut". It was very interesting and I learned a lot about ecological problems of Armenia. Teghut is a forest in the North of Armenia. There was found a copper mine and this forest is going to be destroyed to use the mine. The forest is very large and if it is destroyed there will be a lot of ecological problems. I think that it is a global problem and we need to save the green areas. TEGHUT PROTECTING GROUP
We have a meeting club in Manana centre, where we meet different people of different professions. Yesterday our guests were 3 members of Teghut protecting group: Marine Tavaratsyan, Mariam Sukhudyan, Samvel Hovhannisyan. Some people want to cut the forest to get copper, molibden and other metals. Those people promised to plant the trees again. But before planting they should think about the trash. Of course they would get rid of it polluting the nearest rivers and fields. I'm not sure they think about people who live not far from the forest and get harvest from there. So, Teghut protecting group fights for saving the forest.
